What you can expect to do here:

As a permit holding archaeologist, your responsibilities will include:

Conducting and leading archaeological field programs including survey, excavation and monitoring
Analyzing data and preparing technical reports for clients and regulators
Completing projects successfully, on time and on budget, while meeting regulatory requirements
Liaising with the Historic Resources Management Branch, clients, landowners, and Indigenous communities
Supervising junior staff and Indigenous workers where appropriate
Develop and contribute to project proposals and budgets;
Participating in WSP's Health & Safety program
Demonstrating a "Safety First" focus and acting as a role model to other staff
Complying with WSP's Fit for Duty policy

What you'll bring to WSP:

Graduate degree in Archaeology or related degree with equivalent cultural resource management experience
Ability to hold an archaeological research permit in Alberta or obtain permit holding status
Physically able and willing to perform fieldwork in a variety of remote and challenging conditions for variable durations
Highly organized and self-motivated with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Proven oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
An ability to contribute to a positive teamwork environment as well as work independently
Valid driver's license (Class 5)

Additional Skills that would be an asset:

Experience identifying, recording, and evaluating the full range of archaeological site types found in the Northern Plains and Boreal Forest culture regions
Familiarity with standard archaeological data collection equipment
Experience with remote sensing/ geophysical data collection equipment
Familiarity with GIS applications
Experience living, working, or recreating in remote and/or rural areas
ATV/UTV and First Aid Certification
Other standard safety certifications
