Located in Masset, BC, the Haida Gwaii Society for Community Peace (HGSCP) is a not-for-profit association of volunteers and professionals whose purpose is to provide temporary, secure housing, and advocacy for survivors of family or gender-based violence; and to promote safety and/or equality for everyone on Haida Gwaii. About the OpportunityIn collaboration with Community Living BC (CLBC), Haida Gwaii Society for Community Peace (HGSCP) is looking for a full-time (35 hours/week) Social Services Program Manager, Community Living Contracts based in Masset, BC.
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the Community Living BC programs, ensuring they align with organizational and Community Living BC's policies and objectives.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for directing the delivery of services across various programs including Home Share, Community Inclusion, and Residential Care, ensuring effective and compliant service operations.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing program staff and ensuring client goals and personal plans are effectively set and achieved
- Managing client cases, including conducting reviews and addressing sensitive issues as needed
- Facilitating referrals and intakes for CLBC programs, ensuring care requirements are comprehensively assessed
- Recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new caregivers, while ensuring compliance with required standards and documentation
- Monitoring program budgets and financial records to maintain fiscal responsibility
- Producing detailed reports on program activities and maintaining up-to-date client records
- Supporting and supervising Home Share and Service providers to uphold best practice standards
- Conducting performance evaluations and identifying training needs for program staff
- Working occasional evenings and weekends to cover shifts in our group home when needed (Paid overtime or in lieu hours added to flex bank)

About YouTo qualify, you will need a Diploma in a related Human Services/Social Services field, with 3+ years' experience in social service or related program management, ideally within the social service sector and in a unionized environment, and one year of supervisory experience. However, we offer full training to anyone without prior experience, so if you're willing to learn and grow, we want to hear from you!
The following are also required:
- A valid class 5 BC driver's license and a reliable vehicle
- Ability to undergo a Criminal Records Check with a Vulnerable sector check
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, including crisis management
- Familiarity with labour relations, including grievance resolution and collective bargaining
- Expertise in policy development and operations management
- Experience with financial oversight and budget management
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and comprehensive documentation and records
