The Opportunity:
WSP has a new opportunity for an Environmental Engineer/Geoscientist to join our Mine Water & Environment team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver. In this role you will support and lead contaminated site remediation projects and proposal efforts with an emphasis on legacy and abandoned mine sites in Canada and globally. Projects typically involve contaminant characterization, permitting, and development and implementation of remediation designs.

What you can expect to do here:

- From day one you'll be contributing to the business and technical mission of a multi-disciplinary team environment within Mine Environment and related technical discipline groups;
- Alongside the technical lead(s), you will be responsible for the day to day running of projects to ensure that deliverables are provided to our diverse clients on time and on budget;
- You will be responsible for summarizing and interpreting datasets, statistical analysis, and preparing written and graphical material for incorporating into reports and presentations;
- You will supervise early career staff to ensure the implementation of quality assurance/quality control measures applicable to the task;
- Conducting site characterization studies to evaluate sources of contamination, with support from early career professionals;
- Planning and coordination of field visits with project management and client teams;
- Oversee the delivery of reports to clients from concept to review and submission;
- Responsibility for conceptual model development and supporting data management and interpretation;
- Demonstrating a "Safety-First" focus and always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites where you undertake project work.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- A degree in Environmental Engineering, Geoscience or Geology, Geological Engineering, or related fields;
- 7+ years work experience in contaminated site investigation and remediation, with emphasis on mine sites
- Registered, or eligible for professional registration, as a Registered Professional Engineer/Geoscientist or other applicable professional regulatory body;
- Project management experience and experience reporting on contaminant characterization, remediation design, and mine remediation;
- Familiarity with development of technical specifications and design drawings for contaminant remediation projects
- Understanding of environmental chemistry, geology, and contaminant fate and transport to support development of conceptual site models and remediation plans;
- Experience working in northern and/or remote project environments would be considered an asset
- Excellent organizational and communications skills;
- Strong quantitative skills;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Passion for working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment;
- Strong interpersonal, communication and innovative thinking skills are essential;
- A positive demeanor towards carrying out your work safely and supporting the safe work of those you work with.
