The Opportunity:

WSP is currently searching for a dedicated Intermediate or Senior Contract Administrator to support our Infrastructure Group out of our Edmonton office.

The Infrastructure Group supports a diverse project portfolio in Edmonton and Northern Alberta, including but not limited to Land Development, Civil Infrastructure and Municipal Infrastructure projects. This role coordinates cross-functional teams responsible for delivering defined project outputs on time, within budget and with quality results.

Reporting to the Contract Administration Manager, the Contract Administrator role helps to plan, organize, and administer projects to meet WSP design drawings / specifications and municipality standards. Your primary responsibilities will be Contract Administration of various types of land development and municipal projects. You will have the opportunity to use your construction experience and knowledge to provide valuable input towards upcoming and active construction projects and post-construction activities such as project as-built documentation. You will be a key component in our growing local infrastructure team.

What you can expect to do here:

• Be a part of a team of: Project Managers, Project Engineers, Contract Administrators, Designers, Project Coordinators, Inspectors, and other staff as required.
• Lead the Contract Administration aspects of projects through the construction phase of subdivisions, including but not limited to, earthworks, deep and shallow utilities, roadworks on municipal and land development projects.
• Prepare and Review Contract Documents (i.e., Supplementary General Conditions, Specifications and Drawings).
• Prepare and administer tender process or more informal requests for pricing / proposal.
• Including, preparation of schedule of quantities of approved design, answer and moderate questions during the bidding process, complete reviews and recommendations after the tender closure, etc.
• Complete project drawing constructability reviews to leverage past project experience and understanding.
• Evaluate contractor performance and verify those project deliverables, and quality standards are achieved.
• Maintain regular communication with clients regarding project status, site issues, project quality assurance and resolve issues.
• Chair regular project site meeting and issue meeting minutes including preparation of meeting agenda, etc.
• Management of Quality Assurance and measurements for and the preparation of payment certificates.
• Prepare and Oversee Change Requests and claims.
• Management of responses to contractor's RFI's and clarification requests.
• Ensure supporting project staff complete tasks in accordance with WSP's safety policies/procedures and legislative requirements.
• Lead by example: champion a successful mentoring, assistance, encouragement, and motivation approach for team members.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to WSP:

• Engineering Degree or Technology/Technical Diploma from an accredited institution.
• 7+ years in Contract Administration and Project Coordination experience
• Registered with ASET or APEGA, as a C.E.T. or P.Tech or P.Eng.
• Commitment to Health & Safety protocol - safe working will be second nature.
• Comfortable working independently in both an office and field environment.
• Familiarity with construction materials, installation methods and processes.
• Experience in civil infrastructure projects with specific experience in roadway improvements,
• sewers, watermains, drainage improvements and other municipal infrastructure. Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• A suitable working vehicle and valid driver's license are required for this position. A fleet vehicle may be provided.
• Ability to multitask; good prioritization, time management, and organizational skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities required.
• Excellent communication skills - written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities. Candidates must be very organized, thorough, have good time management skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience; competence in clear, concise and tactful communication with Project Manager, clients, peers and other team members.
• Experience on small and large civil projects - with specific experience in earthworks, water mains, deep and shallow utilities, and road works project is required.
• Experience supervising other staff members and aspire to lead projects
• Adaptability and flexibility, including ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.
• Strong business development and negotiation skills. Able to review contractor quotes,
• ensuring that reasonable pricing is recommended for approval.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel), AutoCad, Civil3D, Bluebeam, Builterra and other Windows and cloud-based computing applications.
• A suitable working vehicle and valid driver's license are required for this position. A fleet vehicle may be provided
• Occasional out of town travel (short term or overnight) is to be expected but the main focus is projects in the local greater Edmonton area.
