Job Description
At WSP our Environmental Management team provides environmental services that include air quality dispersion modelling; meteorological / air quality data analysis; the assessment of air quality effects; noise, light and vibration assessment and environmental regulatory advice to position WSP as a leader in the market. We're looking for an Air Quality Science/Engineer-in-Training to join the team and to be located at our Calgary, AB office. Remote work from other cities may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

What you can expect to do here:
- You will assist with conducting air quality assessments, monitoring and air dispersion modelling projects (i.e. CALPUFF, AERMOD), ranging from large industrial complexes and regional airsheds to small oil and gas or commercial emission sources, in support of regulatory approvals, environmental impact assessments or special studies.
- You will be conducting meteorological and air quality data analysis.
- You will assist with completing air emission inventories.
- You will assist with preparing technical reports and applications for submission to regulatory authorities on behalf of Company clients.
- You will assist with analysis of air quality issues, assessment of air quality effects, and recommendation for monitoring and mitigation programs.
- You will conduct site visits and field work related to your discipline area.
- You will always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites and take WSP's Life Saving rules to heart.
- Other duties as assigned or required in your role.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- 1-5 years in environmental consulting with a focus on air dispersion modelling;
- A University degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering or related discipline;
- Eligibility for membership in a professional organization (APEGA, ECO Canada) is an asset;
- Experience in air dispersion modelling (AERMOD and CALPUFF) is recommended; experience in some or several areas of: environmental management; emission inventories; regulatory reporting; pollution control/prevention; industrial processes; new project development licensing and permitting; environmental impact assessment is an asset;
- A good understanding of applicable provincial and federal regulatory guidelines and directives;
- Good initiative and attention to detail;
- A desire to work well in a multidisciplinary environment and respond well to the technical challenges within set time constraints;
- A "can do" attitude, a strong career interest in consulting with ability to work well in a team environment;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; and
- A valid Class 5 driver's license with no restrictions.
