The Opportunity:
WSP has a permanent employment opportunity for a Nature Advisory Consultant in Alberta or Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will join our wildlife team working on a broad range of biodiversity projects in Canada. We are seeking to grow our team of specialists who can provide assessment and advisory services related to developing biodiversity strategies, supporting clients with biodiversity offset net gain accounting, incorporating nature-based solutions into project lifecycles, and conducting TNFD assessments. The successful candidate will be supported by technical experts from across WSP and will have an opportunity to bring innovative solutions that deliver better outcomes for the environment, economy and society in line with nature positive initiatives such as the Global Biodiversity Framework.

What you can expect to do here:
- The successful candidate will work within the wildlife group under the supervision of the Wildlife Group Manager
- Support strategic biodiversity and natural capital assessments for a wide range of clients using tools and metrics such as the TNFD, IBAT, STAR, BIRS, ENCORE and bespoke metrics.
- Input into client proposals for strategic biodiversity and natural capital services, often in collaboration with other disciplines across WSP and externally.
- Support project managers & technical leads in client meetings, workshops, presentations, deliverables for projects (such as literature reviews) and project management.
- Support with preparing concise, client friendly reports.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- An appropriate academic qualification in a related discipline including a post-graduate degree in a biodiversity, conservation and management program.
- Understanding and experience of applying biodiversity and/or natural capital tools and metrics.
- Understanding of/interest in developing nature recovery plans, biodiversity management plans and/or other strategic biodiversity documents.
- The ability to apply technical excellence in a commercially astute manner.
- Excellent research, analytical, writing and presentation skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in conservation management or environmental sustainability
