About the Role
As the Aquatic Ecology Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Alberta’s Oil Sands Monitoring (OSM) Program. Leading a dynamic team, you will design and implement long-term aquatic monitoring programs and innovative research studies that address critical environmental challenges. Your work will provide scientific insights that guide watershed management and influence policy in the face of industrial development, climate change, and population growth.
What You’ll Do
- Leadership: Oversee and guide a talented team of scientists and technologists to achieve strategic goals.
- Program Development: Design and deliver robust aquatic biota monitoring programs and research studies.
- Scientific Excellence: Conduct advanced data analysis, publish peer-reviewed findings, and present at national and international conferences.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and academic institutions to address key environmental concerns.
- Strategic Impact: Provide expert advice and actionable insights to inform decision-making and manage Alberta’s aquatic ecosystems responsibly.
What You’ll Bring
Required:
- Ph.D. in aquatic ecosystems science or related fields (e.g., aquatic biomonitoring, hydrology, or limnology).
- 2+ years of post-doctoral experience in designing and delivering aquatic biota monitoring programs.
- Proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals and delivering high-impact scientific findings.
- Exceptional leadership, project management, and strategic thinking skills.
Equivalencies Considered:
- Master’s degree + 4 years relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree + 6 years relevant experience.
