Project Resource Manager Consultant (Hybrid - Calgary, AB)
On behalf of our midstream oil & gas client located in Calgary AB, Brainhunter Systems Ltd. is seeking an experienced Project Resource Manager consultant for a one year, full-time contract with a high likeliness of extension. This is a hybrid position based out of Calgary, AB.

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Delivery Excellence and Governance, the Project Resource Manager is responsible for managing the allocation and utilization of project resources spread out across the Enterprise Portfolio of digital projects. This project support role is intended to support the successful and on-time delivery of digital projects enterprise wide. This role requires expertise in using Microsoft Project Desktop and Online and Portfolio Level reporting tools to plan, track, and report on resource assignments and availability, Enterprise timeline, critical path and various other reporting metrics, across multiple portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

    • In collaboration with and in support of Portfolio, Program and Project Managers the Resource Manager will develop and maintain resource management plans, resource forecasting strategy, capacity planning reports, and resource allocation assignments to support the digital build function of the Enterprise.
    • Use Microsoft Project Online to create and manage resource pools, assign resources to tasks, track resource utilization, and to deliver the required reporting across the Enterprise Portfolios
    • Collaborate with Portfolio managers, project managers, functional managers, and team members to understand resource requirements and availability
    • Identify and resolve resource conflicts and constraints, ensuring optimal resource utilization across projects
    • Provide regular resource status updates and reports to project stakeholders
    • Implement processes and tools to improve resource management efficiency and transparency
    • Maintain 3rd Party, Staff Aug and SI Team resource data integrity, ensure accurate resource information in WorkDay and maintain a Digital resource directory that includes contract start and end dates, vendor name, rates, job title and manager
    • Provide training and support to project teams on the use of Microsoft Project and Online for resource management
    • Develop a resource roadmap to support the digital build roadmap
    • Develop strong relationship with digital staffing partners to ensure gaps can be filled with the right candidates at the right time
    • Review monthly timesheets for project contract resources, validate forecasts and actuals are within the noted SLA
    • Identify gaps in staffing where resources are over/under allocated
Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in project management, business, or a related field
    • 5+ years of experience in project resource management, preferably in a multi-project environment
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project Desktop and Online, including resource planning, assignment, and reporting
    • Strong understanding of resource management principles, best practices, and tools in the IT/Digital Landscape. Knowledge of the OnePlan Portfolio management tool preferred.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skill
    • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
    • Forward thinker with the ability to forecast resource needs months ahead based on the digital build roadmap
    • PMP or other project management certification preferred
