Within TD Technology, the Treasury Analytics Group (TAG) is dedicated to support the Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) department in measuring and managing liquidity and market risk (interest rate, equity, and foreign exchange) for the Bank's investment portfolio, both in Canada and the US. TAG creates models, financial systems, applications, and processes required to support various functional teams in TBSM including FO Investments, Liquidity Risk Management (both Retail and Wholesale), Non-Trading Market Risk and Cash Management.

As regulators and the industry significantly ratchet up the focus and investment in Liquidity Reporting, this opportunity provides the one with the ability to be in at the ground level and to help lead and architect the bank wide TD Wholesale Liquidity program forward. This team operates like a small tech company within a large financial institution. The ideal candidate is a passionate developer who enjoys experimenting with new technologies and writing efficient, scalable, & re-usable code.

Job Description Summary

The Treasury Analytics Group (TAG) is looking for a Senior IT Developer to join the Front Office and Investments development team, to develop and maintain the Investment Portfolio trading/reporting applications. These applications produce daily liquidity metrics for the Canadian/US regulators and provide data for business analysis.

Sitting in this position will help expand your knowledge, strengthen your expertise, and introduce you to the inner workings of our Treasury alongside a team of seasoned technology and finance professionals. Our team is made up of dynamic and strong technical leads, developers, and BSAs who build and maintain critical technology platforms in an Agile environment.

Here's some of what you may be asked to perform:
  • Work closely with the lead business systems analyst and business units to review requirements and feasibility
  • Develop and maintain database scripts
  • Perform code review written by junior/intermediate developers on team where necessary
  • Perform unit testing
  • Comply with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology
  • Take part in construction of the requirements, design, testing and deployment documents
  • Ensure consistency in coding standards
  • Ensure applications are free of common coding vulnerabilities (and follow standard security practices)
  • Demonstrate understanding of the business or acumen to pick up the business knowledge of banking/ liquidity risk
  • Apply and share technical expertise during incident management life cycle (e.g. analyzes reports and outages, perform impact assessments, facilitate stakeholder communication)
  • Provide Run the bank (RTB) L3 support

Aside from strong technical abilities, an ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, ability to motivate team members and know how to efficiently make key decisions. They should also have strong communication skills and be able to foster collaboration with other departments. As a senior developer you should display a high degree of adaptability in order to learn new technologies as needed and successfully manage the daily challenges of a technical environment.

The ideal candidate would have capital markets transaction processing experience, understanding of regulatory liquidity reporting and be able to work in close partnership with ambitious business and technology partners, project teams and stakeholders to help lead the agile development process.

Job Requirements

What can you bring to TD?

Share your credentials, but your relevant experience and knowledge can be just as likely to get our attention. It helps if you have:
  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate related to IT/Software/Management. Graduate. A degree related to IT/Software/Management will be preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with .NET development
  • 5+ years of experience in relational database development (SQL Server)
  • Agile delivery experience.
  • Readiness and motivation (as senior or lead developer and valued subject matter expert) to address and resolve highly complex and multifaceted development-related issues, often independently.

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation & communication skills
  • Proactive, organized, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Works well independently, as well as, within a team
  • Capital market and liquidity reporting experience are strong assets
