WSP has a new opportunity for a Technical Report Author to join our Remediation Program Management team based in Edmonton or Calgary. This opportunity will allow you to evaluate risk and advise on contaminated sites impacted by hydrocarbons (diesel, gasoline, crude oil etc.), salinity, and/or metals. It is expected that you are self-motivated and will demonstrate strong time management and communication skills.

As a Technical Report Author, you will contribute expertise in the following areas:
  • Participation in a team environment, working closely with and supporting Project Managers and Field Technicians;
  • Produce high quality written technical reports in support of large and small environmental site assessment, monitoring, and remediation projects;
  • Preparation of Site closure documentation (Conceptual Site Model, Record of Site Condition);
  • Compare lab results to site-specific regulatory guidelines and/or protocols for reporting needs for the various Project Coordinators, Project Managers and Project Directors;
  • Generate and QA/QC regulatory checklists, forms and other documents in support of reporting requirements to meet the site-specific project needs of provincial Contaminated Site Regulations, protocols and/or Guidelines;
  • Create, execute and revise work plans to meet Project Manager's needs;

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Environmental Science and/or Engineering);
  • 2 to 4 years of direct experience in contaminated site assessments, site monitoring and remediation;
  • Working knowledge of the AB Contaminated Sites Framework and relevant Protocols and Technical Guidance documents;
  • Experience with statistical analysis using common analytical software;
  • Strong technical writing skills;
  • Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace and possess a safety conscious attitude;
  • Ability to work patiently with and help train less experienced team members;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and key judgment skills;
  • Experience in the oil and gas sector will be an asset;

Preference will be given to those individuals with more extensive experience with respect to soil and groundwater monitoring programs, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site remediation, provincial Contaminated Site forms and protocols. And, have related field experience.
