The National SMB Sales Director is responsible for driving growth and revenue by acquiring and retaining small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers through strategic sales leadership. This role reports into the Vice President, National SMB Sales, and focuses on market expansion, revenue generation, profitability, customer retention, team leadership, strategy development, and market insight.

What you will do :
  • Team Leadership and Management (40%):
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a large matrixed sales team consisting of 140+ individuals spanning the inbound, outbound, and digital verticals.
    • Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions.
    • Set performance targets and track progress.
    • Recruit and train sales professionals.
  • Sales Strategy Development (20%):
    • Craft and implement sales strategies tailored to SMB customers.
    • Analyze market data and identify target SMB segments.
    • Develop pricing and packaging strategies.
    • Create campaigns to promote products or services.
  • Customer Engagement and Relationship Building (10%):
    • Build and maintain relationships with key SMB customers.
    • Meet with key customers to understand their needs.
    • Resolve escalated customer issues.
    • Identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.
  • Market Research and Analysis (10%):
    • Monitor market trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities.
    • Conduct competitive intelligence.
    • Identify gaps in product or service offerings.
  • Performance Reporting and Analysis (10%):
    • Review sales metrics and KPIs regularly.
    • Identify areas for performance improvement.
    • Prepare reports for senior management.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration (5%):
    • Collaborate with marketing, product development, and sales operations.
    • Align marketing campaigns with sales strategies.
    • Provide input to product development.
  • Administrative Tasks and Meetings (5%):
    • Attend leadership meetings and report on sales performance.
    • Manage budgetary and resource allocation matters.
    • Perform administrative tasks related to team management.


  • What you bring:
    • 8-10 years of progressive experience in sales leadership, managing large matrixed teams.
    • Strong understanding of various sales techniques, and an in-depth knowlege of the SMB market.
    • A familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques, and a knowledge of market research methodologies.
    • Proficiency in CRM systems, sales automation tools, and sales analytics software.
    • In-depth knowledge of the organization's products or services.
    • Understanding of pricing strategies and digital marketing concepts.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Adaptability and ethical standards.
    • High School Diploma (Grade 12)

    This is a hybrid work position and will require you to be in office three days per week.
