Job Description
The Regional Education Specialist, Alberta, works remotely within a team responsible for supporting the several student recruitment channels for Royal Roads University.
Each Regional Education Specialist acts as the key liaison to their assigned School(s), units or regions. With responsibility for their assigned portfolio, the Specialist communicates, coordinates, implements, evaluates and reports on the effectiveness of multi-channel student recruitment efforts.
The Regional Education Specialist:
- strongly focuses on domestic student recruitment in the Alberta market with Calgary and Edmonton as primary locations;
- supports the domestic student recruitment team within the Canadian market; and,
- supports international student recruitment efforts up to 10% of the time.
The Specialist maintains comprehensive knowledge of the post-secondary sector, Royal Roads University, its program offerings and the assigned region and commits to creative and innovative recruitment within the context of their portfolio.
The Specialist establishes and adheres to administrative processes, procedures and ensures smooth operations by bridging the work of the unit with key stakeholders, faculty, partners, prospects and students.
Our ideal Candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to travel within the province and occasionally within Canada.
- Undergraduate degree in business or communications plus a minimum five years’ related experience in a post-secondary environment (, student/academic advising, student recruitment, student services, partnership development, education abroad or similar), or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Strong understanding and proven ability to build sales funnels or recruit prospective students of all demographics.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be a disciplined self-starter, taking initiative where appropriate.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and public speaking skills with the ability to adapt speaking and presentation style to the audience.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity, and a general understanding of communication protocol and etiquette as they vary across cultures and organizations.
- Experience with planning physical and virtual events varying in scale and scope, including demonstrated ability to positively represent the University, host guests, and lead the agenda of events.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise a high degree of discretion.
- Local and national travel will be required as well as evening and weekend hours.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
An ideal candidate would also possess (asset, not required):
- Royal Roads University education.
- Fluency in a language in addition to English.
- Experience studying, working and/or travelling abroad.
