The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Surveillance (SQS) Coordinator to join our Supply Chain Management (SCM) team, located at our Calgary office. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Management this position will be responsible for SQS functions on various Energy, Resources, and Industry (ERI) projects for major electrical and mechanical equipment.

What you can expect to do here:

The responsibilities, tasks and activities for the SQS Coordinator will include but are not limited to the following
  • Clear understanding of SQS procedures/workflows and how they relate to Client-specific and/or project requirements.
  • Identification of Inspection Agencies with qualified 3rd party inspectors locally (Alberta), across Canada, USA, Europe, Asia as required. Approve proposed inspectors.
  • An ability to communicate complex technical information to a wide range of audiences internally and externally.
  • Manage SQS coordination activities for High Voltage Oil filled electrical equipment, Cables and Substations.
  • Capable of interpreting specifications, drawings, quality plans, code and regulatory requirements especially for high voltage power transmission and distribution electrical equipment.
  • Demonstrable capability to assess the performance of processes including, Visual inspection, Dimensional inspection, Documentation Review, NDT, Hardness Testing, Surface finish, Pressure testing, Welding, Heat Treatment.
  • Establishes details of work assignment and reporting requirements for TPIA.
  • Prepares estimates for various projects and participates in the management of those hours.
  • Coordinate inspection activities with TPIA at vendor's facilities.
  • Receives inspection reports, reviews for quality of fabrication, progress as per fab schedule, and follows up on any noted deficiencies in vendor's facility.
  • Ensures vendor compliance to document requirements, Codes, Standards and Regulations.
  • Collaborate with relevant 'key working relationships, such as Client and Supplier quality representatives, to ensure all quality activities related to equipment have been addressed.
  • Assist in the development, review and / or revision of WSP General Specifications as required.
  • Review and approve ITPs/WPSs/Vendor Quality Plans/Testing Procedures.
  • Coordinate/chair/minute pre-inspection meetings.
  • Manage vendor NCRs when required, including report initiation, advice on corrective actions, and follow-through to closeout.
  • Review and approve invoices from Third Party Inspection Agency (TPIA).

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Good knowledge of major equipment procured on ERI projects in industries like, Mining, Waste to Energy, Nuclear, Power Transmission, Battery Plants and Oil and Gas.
  • Conflict management skills relating to adverse findings from surveillance activities.
  • Familiar with electrical equipment codes and certifications.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • CWB Level II or III Welding Inspector
  • Valid certification (at least level II) in NDT (MT, PT, UT, RT interpretation
