About the Opportunity
Our growing Edmonton office is looking to add a passionate Environmental Consultant to our team. - Completing desktop environmental assessments to support feasibility studies for infrastructure, development, and economic development projects.
- Coordinating regulatory approvals required by local, provincial, and federal agencies. These can include changes in Project Description screening, DFO notifications, AEP watercourse crossing notifications, etc.
- Conducting field assessments like bird sweeps, wetland assessments/delineations, monitoring of contractor compliance for fish salvage, creek isolation, sediment control
- Quality assurance reviews for contractor environmental control and operations plans, environment and sediment control plans, etc.
- Demonstrate a commitment to learning through the ongoing achievement of personal and professional goals.
- Be a champion for the environment and our team, within and outside of Urban Systems.
About You
Our preferred candidate will be a graduate of a Biology, Natural Resource Science, Environmental Science, or related discipline bachelor’s degree program with 3-10 years of experience. The ideal candidate will be eligible for professional registration as an Agrologist or Biologist in Alberta. The core skills that will help you succeed here include:
- You have an appreciation for consulting and a drive to establish a self-directed and collaborative practice.
- You have experience creating strong relationships with and working alongside Indigenous communities.
- You have strong technical skills which continually demonstrate capabilities as an environmental consultant.
- You have a desire to grow knowledge and understanding of government environmental regulatory frameworks and policies.
- You are capable and enthusiastic about playing an integral role in regulatory advice and approvals, design input, and potential solutions as it relates to the environmental components of our projects.
- You have the ability to develop and nurture positive interpersonal relationships with people from varying backgrounds including team members, clients, and partners.
- You are willing to travel to various remote communities in Alberta and other geographies of the company both to meet with clients as well as internal project teams.

This position will have a salary range of $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The range is negotiable based on your skillset and experience.
